Add A-record, CNAME, TXT Records

Some website hosting providers require an A-record for the base domain, and/or CNAME records and may also require temporary TXT records for domain ownership verification. We are starting such provisions for users who are not hosting their domains on an external DNS server.

The following user DNS records are now supported (instead of NS nameservers):

  1. Set IP address for your base domain (A-Record). Sometimes base domain (without sub-domains) is referred to as @ host, in DNS terms.
  2. CNAME for a sub-domain of your base domain
  3. TXT record for base domain (without sub-domain)

Nameserver + TXT Verification

If you intend to use nameservers and also verify domain using TXT record: Add your TXT record and verify your domain. Once domain has been verified you can attach your nameserver to the domain again (the TXT record will be dropped as no longer needed).

Pricing Information

No pricing structure has been set for this service yet, but first A record and first CNAME and TXT record will be free of cost, until further notice.

Limited User DNS Records

A maximum of one each of A-record, CNAME and TXT record are allowed per user domain. For anything elaborate, multiple sub-domains and MX and other DNS records, you will need to delegate your domain to an external DNS nameserver  at PKNIC portal (most often to the DNS for your service provider), and then can add unlimited sub-domains and other records there in your domain's DNS zone at your service provider's portal.

PKNIC ( .PK Domain ) DNS, CNAME, TXT Recordss

In general, PKNIC does not encourage user DNS records in the .PK root servers (e.g. TXT, CNAME or A record for base domain). However, we are starting this service for for users who are not hosting their domains on an external DNS server and their service providers require only A/CNAME records, or TXT for domain verification.

PKNIC does not offer MX records yet in the .pk root servers for user domains.

What about the  Account → My Glue Records    Menu?

For 99% of users with domain used for websites, the glue record should not be created and used (because they do not allow records to be created for the base domain itself). The Glue Records functionality is for advance technical users who run their own in-house DNS servers, etc. For normal users who are asked to attach IP to their domain (A-Record), creating glue records almost always will not work.
